Course Curriculum

The study plan for the Qatar Defense Course 2020/2021 was based on the following elements:
Benefiting from the experiences of a number of regional and international defense colleges with regard to the content of the educational material that is offered in advanced training courses, which helped to find the similarities and differences among various curricula.
Considering the four contemporary pillars of national power of state, i.e., diplomacy, information, military and economy, abbreviated as DIME, the curriculum guides the decision-makers of the state to the fact that national security is linked to the state's ability to preserve, defend and protect its national interests. To preserve sovereignty and independence of the state, not only a military dimension of acquisition and accumulation of military sources of power needs to be taken in to consideration, but it requires the power of diplomacy, the power to access information and the power of the economy as well, therefore the course curriculum covers all strategic elements of power.
This study plan is based on an Inter-displinary approach in line with contemporary trends in academic programmes and research, which are inclined towards synthesizing knowledge in the interpretation of human and social phenomena. This approach stems from the principle of the unity of knowledge and the methodology of cognitive integration which goes beyond a narrowed and isolated view of specialization. So, the programme is designed on the basis of the use of a methodological multiplicity by considering more than one theory or approach or observation in areas where military strategy meets law, history, economics and sociology.
Specificity of Qatar: This study plan includes a number of prescribed subjects that deal with the case of Qatar and its intersections with the regional and international environment.
