Prof. Dr. Brahim Saidy
Dean of Graduate Studies and Research and Professor of Diplomacy and Defense Studies at Joaan Bin Jassim Academy for Defense Studies.
He previously worked (2013-2020) as a professor of diplomacy, security and defense studies at Qatar University where he developed the study plan for the Master of Defense Studies.
He holds a Ph.D. in international relations from the University of Quebec in Montreal, and a master's degree in the same specialization from Laval University, Canada. He holds a master's degree in advanced strategic studies and defense policy from the Graduate School of International Studies in Paris. He previously worked as a professor of international relations at the University of Laval and the University of Ottawa in Canada. He worked as a resident researcher at the NATO Defense College in Rome, Italy, as a visiting researcher at the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia, in America, as a visiting researcher at the Institute for Research in Military Affairs in Seoul, South Korea, and as a resident researcher at the Quebec Institute for International Studies in Canada. He also cooperated as a delegated professor with Ahmed bin Mohammed Military College and Joaan bin Jassim Joint Command and Staff College in Doha. He has published 6 books, including 3 books on the Atlantic Alliance and a book on the unified Gulf military leadership. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed research articles on defense policy, military strategy and national security in specialized scientific journals. He received a number of research grants, including the Mediterranean Dialogue Scholarship of the NATO Defense College, and established a number of postgraduate programs in defense affairs.
