Master of Arts in Defense Diplomacy

M.A in Defense Diplomacy program at Joaan bin Jassim Academy for Defense Studies is a specialized post postgraduate program. It seeks to achieve the following educational objectives:

• Scientific comprehension of the concept of defense diplomacy, its origins, development, functions and importance in implementing the objectives of foreign policy, in addition to the integrated knowledge of international treaties and laws governing military diplomatic action.

• Understanding tasks of Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its structure, departments, and missions, staff duties, Qatar’s diplomatic service laws, and a good understanding of military representation mechanisms.

• Being familiar with of diplomatic protocol, etiquette and knowledge of ceremonies in Qatar, acquiring oratory skills, diplomatic speech and correspondence skills, the art of diplomatic negotiation and methods of settling international disputes, acquiring the sense of security in diplomatic practice, knowing methods of spying on persons and diplomatic missions, awareness digital hacking, and acquiring Media skills in diplomatic action, especially media analysis, press release, television interviews and press conferences.

• Knowing legal aspects in the practice of diplomacy and international military cooperation, international and regional organizations, and attending the specialized study that will make a positive impact on the international relations of the Qatar’s military.

• Preparation of military leaders for fostering foreign relations, in accordance with the strategy of the Qatar armed forces.
