The importance of national security in building a strong nation is well known. So our mission is to prepare and rehabilitate selected promising leaders of Qatar Armed Forces, security agencies and civilian State institutions by enhancing their capacity in the areas of research, analysis and strategic assessment about the strengths and factors influencing national security. The program prepares them to assume senior positions related to strategic planning at the national level and effectively contributing to the formulation and development of national policies and strategies in addition to effective and efficient management and utilization of State resources at the national level.

Preparing chosen leaders from the Qatar Armed Forces, security agencies, and other state institutions, by elevating their potentials in research, analysis, and strategic assessment of the elements of state power and the factors affecting national security, in order to qualify them to assume senior positions of strategic planning at the national level and to actively contribute to the formulation of public policies, developing national strategies, managing state resources and employing them effectively and efficiently. - The National Defense College seeks to achieve the following objectives:
- a) Preparing and qualifying senior officers of the Armed Forces and senior civil servants of the country to occupy the highest leadership positions.
- b) Elevating the capacities of leaders in formulating national policies and strategies and making strategic decisions related to defence and security
- c) Enhancing the capabilities of leaders in assessing current and future challenges and creating proactive leadership thinking.
- d) Integrating thoughts of military and civilian leaders in using resources effectively and efficiently at the national level
- e) Developing leaders' abilities to research, analyze, and draw conclusions, and enhancing their skills in negotiation and dialogue, within an interactive learning environment
